The kids seemed to remember the whole traveling and getting settled part of the trip, so things ran smoothly. The plane ride was a breeze (mostly thanks to ipads). After much deliberation, we decided not to bring the sit n stroll car seats, and it turned out to be a huge success. Lizie and Joey loved that they had more space on the plane.
Lizie made sure to read up on airplane safety before we took off...
When we got to Florida, we sprang right into action! The weather was beautiful...the most beautiful weather we've had in February. Needless to say, we spent lots of time on the beach.
We also took a fun eco- boat tour of the Sarasota bay! The kids loved looking at the critters caught by the drop-net...starfish, puffer fish, sea slugs, sea urchin, and much more!
When the weather got a little too windy for the beach, we hopped in the car and headed to Sea World for the day. Linnea was happiest to see Shamu again...
And we discovered an aquarium exhibit we missed last time! Very cool.
By the time we got back from Sea World, it was warm enough to play at the beach again! Yippee!
Lizie and Joey really became "one" with the ocean...
During the earlier morning hours, it became routine to make a Starbucks run, and then play at a local playground. We now have three favorite parks!
On Sunday evenings at Siesta Key Beach, there is a hippyish jam-session that is not to be missed. The kids still aren't sure how they feel about it, but Meemee was totally down with it...
Yep, lots to do in Florida...but every now and then we fit in a quick rest...
...but who needs rest when there's more BEACH time to be had?!
The benefit to having two weeks in Florida is there's always time for a trip to DISNEY! This trip, we decided to take the kids to Epcot, and Meemee and Poppa were happy to join us. We had an incredibly terrific day, filled with all kinds of Disney magic.
Oh, and we can't forget some extra-special time the kids had with just Meemee and Poppa! What a fun outing to the fire station (so mommy could pack for home in peace).
Yep, we are very blessed. Very VERY blessed. What a great trip!
